Jeffrey Weinhaus

Fourteen Years is a long time to sit in prison for a crimethat happened to him.

November 1st marks fourteen years since Jeffrey R. Weinhaus was locked away.

Fourteen years is a long time to sit in a cell while folks go on about their lives. I won't let the date slide by unmarked.

On August 24th, 1996, Jeffrey published the first issue of Bulletinman.

For sixteen years he used it to challenge local corruption, police conduct, and regional authorities across Missouri.

That's a lot of print and a lot of nerve, and it ended in September 2012 after an encounter with state law enforcement at a gas station, where he was shot four times, and lived.

Jeffrey survived, and he has aleays maintained his innocence. In 2013 he was convicted on charges that included assault of a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action. He's serving a 30-year sentence in state prison for a crime that happened to him.

His supporters and those that believe in him haven't quit, and neither have I. We're still asking Missouri state officials to make a new and an independent review of the 2012 shooting and the conviction, and we're still asking that local news outlets to look at the record of this case for themselves.

A free press isn't free if the ones who use it get forgotten.

Jeff and I speak nearly every day, and I really appreciate his ministry. He shares daily scripture with Rudy Davis on Facebook and on Rudy's YouTube channel, Lone Star 1776.
