Jeffrey Weinhaus, a fervent advocate for constitutional rights, particularly the First and Second Amendments, dedicated himself to exposing corruption within law enforcement and the judiciary. He leveraged the internet, producing impactful videos that garnered significant attention, and was actively campaigning for County Coroner—a position with the authority to arrest the Sheriff.
On August 16, 2012, one of Weinhaus's videos, which addressed economic hardships, the decline of American values, and accused various entities, including the Crawford County Sheriff's Department, of criminal activity, drew the attention of a judge.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) report, this judge contacted Sergeant Folsom, initiating an investigation into Weinhaus to assess if he posed a threat. The sergeant subsequently concocted a deceptive scheme to secure a search warrant, leading to the confiscation of Weinhaus's computing and publishing equipment.
What transpired in the ensuing weeks was deeply disturbing. The sergeant, as documented in his own report, devised another "ruse"—a deceptive ploy. He telephoned Weinhaus, arranging a meeting at a somewhat secluded gas station under the pretense of returning the equipment.
Mere seconds after Weinhaus exited his vehicle, the sergeant opened fire, shooting Weinhaus four times—twice in the head and twice more in the chest. The sergeant and his partner believed Weinhaus was deceased, yet he miraculously survived the assault. Following the failed attempt on Weinhaus's life, the sergeant fabricated an entirely new narrative, which became the official account of the incident. Unbeknownst to the sergeant, Weinhaus was wearing a smartwatch and had prearranged with his ex-wife to record the encounter.
The smartwatch had faithfully captured the true events of September 11, 2012. The recording documented Weinhaus's attempts to find an escort for the meeting, his prayers for protection, his arrival at the gas station, the confrontation during which he was questioned about his gun, the order to get on the ground, and the sound of the shots being fired. What also chronicled the aftermath, including the arrival of emergency services and medical attention was never presented before the jury.
Jeffrey Weinhaus Remains In Prison To This Day.
After nearly killing him, Jeff was arrested, tried and convicted, all on the say so of two officers that contradicted the facts and evidence. Jeff is currently the "guest" of the State of Missouri serving 30 years for allegedly assaulting a police officer. It was his politics and voice, not the evidence or his interactions with the officers that cost this man 30 years of his life.
