The Story of LaVoy Finicum | Part 6: Targeted by the State
They were never held accountable, even though the evidence was right there showing what they did.
Jeanette Finicum was waiting for Kash Patel to address the awards given to the FBI team involved in the operation that murdered LaVoy Finicum.
Before we move forward, we have to look back.
Those honors were built on a foundation of outright lies—from initial narrative claims that LaVoy attempted to ram officers at the roadblock, to the covered-up rifle shots fired by FBI Hostage Rescue Team members.
Nine years later, presenting the FBI’s Shield of Bravery to those agents reopened those wounds, leaving an unresolved cover-up central to this story, because it's only fair that it be made public.
Behind the scenes, another force was driving the narrative that set the stage for what happened.
As Jeanette explained, the Southern Poverty Law Center played a direct role in how they were targeted:
"The SPLC has a lot to do with a lot of things that happened to the Bundys and LaVoy. We were all labeled as domestic terrorists.
The SPLC was in charge of those labels, and were getting those labels to law enforcement. People would go to the SPLC website to look at their lexicon to decide who was good and who was bad because the SPLC was the authority.
They would categorize different groups, whether Tea Party members, the Bundys, or whatever. If you were on their list, you were a bad guy."
That label wasn't just a word on a website—it was fed straight to law enforcement, defining who was the enemy before a single word was spoken or a single stand was taken.
The SPLC's list wasn't something you could just appeal or clear your name from.
Once you were on it, the mark stayed. As Jeanette explained:
"You can't get off that list. It's part of what brought the FBI in on the Bundys and my husband—because they were labeled domestic terrorists. Under their legal definition, they slapped that label on groups and individuals all across the country.
Whether you were a passive voice, part of the Tea Party, or standing outside an abortion clinic, you got put on those lists," Jeanette said.
"Then they came after you—either through the IRS or through James Comey's FBI under the Obama administration."
It wasn't just tracking; it was targeting. Once that label stuck, the full weight of the federal government followed right behind it.
The apparatus wasn’t just built on lists; it was driven by the men enforcing them.
Jeanette didn't hold back when pointing out the key figures who targeted their movement:
"They went through the different organizations—head of the BLM, you had Dan Love in law enforcement, you had Greg Bretzing from the FBI."
"They were relentless," Jeanette said. "Dan Love—the agent who went after Dr. Redd and so many others—chalked that up as a victory.
He drove two or three people to suicide and wore it like a badge of honor."
"Disgusting. Disgusting. And even more disgusting that there is never, ever... ever!... any real accountability for what he did.
Dan Love separated from federal service without criminal prosecution. He hasn't paid any price for what he's done."
When government officials act with zero fear of consequences, tyranny becomes standard procedure.
Men like Dan Love left behind a trail of destruction, yet walked away completely unscathed—while the families they targeted were left to pick up the pieces.
The persecution didn't stop at the roadblock. FBI Special Agent in Charge Greg Bretzing walked away into retirement, leaving behind an agency that continues to brand the Bundys and LaVoy as domestic terrorists despite all evidence to the contrary.
As Jeanette described it, the campaign to demonize her husband is a nightmare that simply will not end:
"They were never held accountable, even though the evidence was right there showing what they did.
People still call me and say, 'Jeannette, they've got LaVoy on TV again on the FBI's Most Wanted.' It's a nightmare. It’s been relentless."
The government didn't just take a man's life; they continue to drag his name through the dirt to cover their own tracks.
This isn't about law enforcement—it's about controlling the narrative and making sure the public never questions what really happened on that snow-covered road.
They took LaVoy’s life on that lonely stretch of highway, but their efforts to bury the truth continue to fail.
Every award handed out, every list updated, and every lie repeated only proves how deep the corruption runs and how terrified the federal apparatus remains of simple accountability.
As long as the truth is spoken, the story doesn't end where they left it—it ends when justice is finally served.
