• Federal History & Acquittal
The Bundy family faced over 200 armed federal agents during the 2014 Nevada fed-led standoff and spent nearly two years in federal lock-up, only to be found not guilty of all charges.
• Judicial Misconduct Ruling
The chief judge, Gloria Navarro, called for a mistrial in December 2017, and finally dismissed all federal charges, with prejudice in 2018, due to "grossly shocking" misconduct, where the BLM and FBI willfully withheld over a thousand pages of favorable evidence.
• Conflict of Interest
Judge Lynn Norton originally presided over the case from its filing in May 2022 through mid-2023 despite her husband being a highly paid employee of the BLM.
On June 15, 2023, Judge Norton finally disqualified herself, and District Judge Nancy Baskin was assigned to replace her on June 21, 2023.
The trial—which resulted in the jury awarding $52 million in damages—began on July 10, 2023, under Judge Baskin.
